The region of Taza - Al Hoceima - Taounate holds considerable potential and resources. Its strategic location, with a coastline on the Mediterranean Sea close to Europe and its location as a bridge between the East and the West of the Kingdome represents great assets to the region. According to the latest census 2004 population of the region had the youngest the structure among the 16 regions of Morocco. This characteristic qualifies it with an "economically progressive population." The economic weave of the region is generally characterized by a complementarity among the provinces that compose it. The economic activity is dominated by the primary sector. Indeed, the nature of soils, the rate of useful agricultural land and the existence of important water resources are assets that militate in favour of a modern agricultural development in certain areas of the region. The diversified hunting game potential in forest estate and its importance may allow the development of industrial activities around woodwork and promote ecotourism. The industry is booming. The region has several industrial zones in Al Hoceima and Taza. The potential of the region, particularly in agriculture and mining, is able to enhance the vitality of the food industry, metallurgy and electrical engineering industries. The garment industry is also a high potential, mainly due to the abundance of skilled labour and the proximity to Europe. Moreover, the region can be a leading tourist area. Tourism is expected to become, through the efforts of well-targeted investment, an industry generating jobs and incomes. The rich cultural and geographical diversity of tourist products (the seaside, caving, mountain tourism and ecotourism) and the willingness of officials are the warrantors of this enterprise. The region, given its recognized diversity of its geological formations and minerals, has a strong interest in mining research. The quality, variety, spatial distribution and the continuous development of basic infrastructure are all incentives elements for the implementation of investment projects in the region. Several projects have been launched to make the area more attractive and more competitive. These include the extension of Al Hoceima port and the opening of a shipping line between Al-Hoceima and southern Spain, the accomplishment of the bypass linking the Mediterranean region with the east and north-west, construction of roads, inter-structuring and conducting business reception areas ... These sites whose work will be accelerated and reinforced by other actions within the Development Plan of structural integration of Rif Region announced by His Majesty King Mohamed VI,May God glorifies him, in the speech that his Sovereign delivered at Al-Hoceima on March 25th , 2004. To sum up, the region of Taza - Al Hoceima - Taounate whose rich and diverse potential calls for greater recovery remains a preferred location for investors eager to enjoy a favourable environment and wishing to benefit from the support of officials notification and constant listening.
